Passing By the Changjiang: No. 1

Guo Yang Zi Jiang

Zhi you qing shuang dong tai kong
Geng wu ban dian di hua feng.
Tian kai yun wu dong nan bi
Ri she bo tao shang xi hong.

Qian zai ying xiong hong qu wai
Liu zhao xing sheng cue qing zhong.
Xie ping zi ji jiang xin shui
Yao shi qian cha di yi gong.

Passing By the Changjiang: No. 1

Alone with the frozen and clear ice, feeling very empty
After autumn changes, reed flowers motionless in the breeze.
Clouds part, sky opens up to bluish-green fog to the northeast
Sun emits large waves of red.

Thousand years of fighting enemies, geese fly onward
Jiangnan’s appearance still remains powerful after this passage of time.
Take jars to naturally draw up the river water
Want to prepare tea for us, not for the conquerors.

Notes:

Changjiang: Also known as the Yangzi River

Jiangnan: Area of eastern Zhejiang Province around the mouth of the Changjiang.

The conquerors: Refers to the invading Jin kingdom to the north that pushed the Song Dynasty and its capital to the south.
