Oar Strokes
This is a new category I am adding to my website. The name “Oar Strokes” comes from one of the poems I wrote a number of years ago. It along with many of the others, were influenced by my readings and personal experiences of Eastern philosophies that show up on this website. As a group they were written over a period of about five decades. Perhaps poems in general are like oar strokes that enter, and then are removed from the surface of water, leaving behind wavelets and small, temporary changes.
Most of these poems began with a personal experience, often in nature. These events elicited in me feelings and observations of beauty, awe, respect and an awakening of something not yet realized. From this beginning, many were linked via a metaphor to an insight, and a desire to share.
Hope you enjoy.
