The Grave of Lin Xiangru

Carrying an envoy staff with sections of jade through the heavy air
Walking my horse, near a scattered forest to offer wine to the memory of Lin Xiangru.
These consular travels with a circle of jade makes a life that blows about like the leaves
I yearn to be like him, where my sun and sky are as expansive as his heart.

Notes:

Lin Xiangru:(?-260 BC) Politician and general during the Warring States period (475-221 BC) within the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770-256 BC). He served in the kingdom of Zhao. He died soon after they lost the Battle of Changping against the Qin kingdom in 260 BC.

The circle of jade: This was considered an imperial treasure from 221 BC into the tenth century AD. Carved and handed down from emperor to emperor, it was referred to as the Heirloom Seal of the Realm. Later it was considered proof of the Mandate of Heaven. Lin attempted to hand over this precious object to the Qin ruler in exchange for ten cities. Full story can be found on the Internet.
