永嘉上浦馆逢张子客

逆旅相逢处
江村日暮时。
众山遥对酒
孤屿共题诗。

廨宇邻鮫室
人烟接岛夷。
乡关万馀里
失路一相悲。

Yong Jia Shang Pu Guan Feng Zhang Zi Ke

Ni lu xiang feng chu
Jiang cun ri mo shi
Zhong shan yao dui jiu
Gu yu gong ti shi

Xie yu lin jiao shi
Ren yan jie dao yi
Xiang guan wan yu li
Shi lu yi xiang bei

Met Zhang Zirong at Shanpu Guan in Yong Jia

We met during our travels at a country inn
Sunset at a small river village
Among many remote mountains, share wine
Together at a solitary islet, write poetry on a large boulder

Government guesthouse neighbors with the water people
Signs of habitation around the nearby island locals
Still many, many miles from my hometown
We share the same path: a very sad road to obscurity.

Yong Jia: Suburb of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province

Shangpu Guan: A building about 70 li east of Wenzhou

Li: equal to half of a kilometer (about 1/3 of a mile)

Water people: Mythological people living underwater, like mermaids and mermen
