送 裴 十 八 图 南 归 嵩 山: 二 首

忽 复 归 嵩 岑。
归 时 莫 洗 耳
为 我 洗 其 心。
洗 心 得 真 情
洗 耳 徒 买 名。
谢 公 终 一 起
相 与 济 苍 生。

You remind me of the green Ying River
Suddenly to again go back to the mountains and hills.
Time when no one can wash their ears
For true feelings, wash instead the heart-mind.

Washing one’s ears just to buy some fame
Xie Gong came out of rural seclusion.
Together we can give help to the common people.

Ying River: Largest tributary to the Huai River, whose source is in Henan Province.

Xie Gong: Known better as Xie Lingyun (385-433): Famous government official and poet of the “mountains and rivers” school of nature and landscape poems.
